In my previous post in here before I stopped blogging for a loooong time, I wrote about my feelings for my first job. I wrote about how I love the workplace etc etc. And today, I am writing again to say that I will be officially out of that place in 2 weeks time.

Yes, everything was rosy initially. Ok, not really. Cos on my first day there, my P made it very clear to me that she disliked me. She made me do all the nonsensical tasks such as wrapping of the children's storybooks, typing out the centre's portfolio all on my first day. I didn't think too much of it then cos I thought, "Ok, I should be modest and just do it right?" But boy! Was I wrong! Everything just went downhill from then on. Here's just some of the worst moments I had there.

Incident 1

After my graduation ceremony which was like in mid June last year, I presented her my degree certificate for record purposes.

P: "What's this?"
Me: "My degree cert."
P: "Oh.. Early Childhood or degree lain?"
Me: "Early Childhood lah."
P: "You give me for what?"

In my heart, "Why you so stupid ah? Basket!"

Incident 2

I had already tendered and I had an interview to attend in the evening on one particular day so I asked her.

Me: "Mdm, I want to take time off today. Can I leave at about 3+?"
P: "For what?"
Me: "For some personal stuffs I need to settle."
P: "No, cannot. If you leave, I'm going to cut your half day salary."
Me: "Half day even though I leave just 2 hours earlier? I might as well go home at 12!"

In my heart, "Oh wow! Such double standard! The other teachers can leave at 1 or 2 without getting a pay cut!"

Actually there's just too many incidents for me to pen down here. But I think I've made the right choice to leave the place cos I am no longer happy there. But of course, I had my joyful moments there too.

1) I have awesome colleagues. Ok, except for 1 or 2 losers. But yeah, my colleagues are great. We bond a lot over that pathetic 1 hour lunch (sometimes less) and I will miss them dearly.

2) I have done up my classroom so beautifully last December with the help of Yusri. And it is actually quite sad to bring down most of the things which we had painstakingly cut, pasted, laminated, painted, hanged.

3) I will miss the children whom I taught last year. Not the ones I am currently teaching cos I have a bunch of monkeys and donkeys this year.

Anyway, after weighing all the pros and cons of this workplace, I know that it is best to leave now then later cos the longer I stay there, the harder it would be to leave. So, sayonara ***! It was good while it lasted.

So last week (21st June), was my first official working day at a new school, new teachers and new students. And I must say that before I met the children, that was when before school reopened, I was convinced that I had made the wrong choice to be teaching there. And Surya felt the same way too even though we were in different centres.

BUT, once I met the kids last Monday, I felt that I had made the right choice after all. The kids were an amazing bunch and I am more than happy to be teaching and joking around with them. I really look forward to seeing them 5 days a week and yes, I LOVE MY JOB! :)

Yesterday was one of the few significant moments of my life. One that I would definitely treasure for a long time as it marks the end of college life and the beginning of adulthood (read: working life). And I have many people to thank for making yesterday possible for me because without their continuous encouragment and support, I wouldn't be where I am today.

And yes, in case you still do not get me, yesterday was the commencement day for Wheelock College, Class of 2010, the Exceptional 62!

It is finally in my hands! :)

Yes girls, we made it and lived up to our motto! We survived. hahaha

And to all these people, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Love you all! Muacks! hehe

Last weekend, one of my classmate got married. It was the most simple yet meaningful wedding I must say. And it was also the first time I stepped into a church! Anyway, congratulations Yvette & John!

And thanks dear, for being our chaffeur for the day. Ok, no.. Not on that ride. I wish! haha

Hello! I'm back from Korea few days ago and fully rejuvenated! The graduation holiday was super duper fun.

Weather was cool, unlike this hot and humid Singapore. We stayed in a guesthouse near a palace. And the location of our guesthouse was pretty near the shopping district. So yeah, we shopped like practically every day! haha

Us, inside the palace. A very cool place, really.

And then, we spent almost half of the day searching for the mosque! But it was worth it cos the mosque is really beautiful!

On the same day too, we met a really nice guy by the name of Mr Kim at the shoe store. He really went all out to look for the perfect size for Surya! And even knocked on the shoe to prevent blisters. Haha

The next day, we visited the Seoul Tower as well as the Teddy Bear Museum. As it was Children's Day on that day, the place was very crowded! And I had my first taste of Grilled Squid! Yummeh!

And then we went to Everland, a beautiful fairy tale like place!

So naturally, we spent practically 3/4 of the time taking pictures! Haha. And I even got a passport photo for free, courtesy of Surya of cos! Ok, inside joke. haha. But by mid day we were almost frozen cos the weather was very very cold!

We also went to Nami island, the location of Winter Sonata. Another beautiful place! I wish I could get married there. Hehe. If I do, I bet I would have to drag myself in the wedding gown and take our own pictures cos it would be too expensive to drag the photographer along. Haha

Prior to that, we met another Mr Kim who had just gotten off his night shift. He was too kind and accompanied us all the way to Nami island just so that we would not go lost again. Haha

We also visited the shop in the show The Coffe Prince. Well, the place is just so so. We stayed there for like 15 minutes only cos the menu sucks. Haha. And the people, OMG! So action ok..

And that is it. The short but memorable graduation trip. Looking forward to our next holiday girls! :)

Before the clock strikes 12 midnight, I better blog fast. Know why? That's because today marks our 5th Anniversary! Yay us! *clap clap* (immitating London Tipton from Zack & Cody) haha

You know, I really cannot believe that we've been together for 5 years already! It felt like I was only 17 a year ago. Haha. Ok, fat hope! But really, time really flies huh? And babe, you have 3 years left to fulfill your promise. hahaha. And I'm sure time will fly even faster then.

So anyway, we celebrated our anniversary 3 days earlier because 2nd May falls on a Sunday, and we hate the crowd on weekends. So, we went out on Thursday, for some good ol fun with each other's company. A simple day yet worth a thousand memories. I shall end this post with a few pictures from the very memorable day.

Started the day by the beach and the card competition. *clears throat* I obviously won the competition. hahaha. Look at the card he is holding.

And before it began to pour, we made our way to Cash Studio and sang out hearts out like two love birds. haha. And I made him sing the song which I wanted to be for our wedding. hahahaha. Just keep on practicing..

And we ended the day with good buffet spread that made his tummy bloated at Sakura. hehehe

& That's all for now. Jetting off tomorrow for some Kimchi lovin'! See you soon!

I hope it remains this cool next week. Ooh, so excited!!

Monday, April 12, 2010

I had never been this nervous before when printing my assignments. But this time, I am like constantly checking and reading through each printed piece again because only God knows how much effort, time and mood swings it took for me and my partner, Amirah to get it all together. Furthermore, we have been working on this research paper since last August I think? So the contents of it are definitely too precious and should anything have happened, I would even tear blood. haha

So, anyway we will be having the commencement briefing and gown fitting tomorrow. Excited you know... haha.

Ok, till next time when I have something else to blog about instead of just about school! 2 days left, 1 more class to go..

A great loss to the Wheelock family.
RIP Dr Joan Bergstrom.

Sunday, April 4, 2010

Hello! I am back from the longest break ever. From blogging at least. :) And for those who asked, Phuket was awesome! Great weather, food, activities and massage! hehe

Anyway, now that it is already April, I am a lot more free than the past 3 months or so. That's because I am going to be done with school in another 10 days time! Jumps up and down with joy now! Yay yay! With the last day of school around the corner, I am very very excited about my future as a career woman. Finally, no more lectures to attend, assignments deadlines to meet, and all the nonsense that come with it for at least the next 3 years. So come April 14, I will be presenting the last presentation and at 11am, I will be like a bird, ready to fly. :)

We will then be going for our graduation holiday in May and that is something I am looking forward to! After which, it is time to settle down, put our heads together and work our ass off. Time to earn big bucks now and settle the CPF education loan or whatever it is called. :(

I'm pretty much psych about the future right now because I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. So yeah, it is finally graduation bebeh!
